How to get a student visa for Germany
If you're a non-EU citizen planning to study in Germany, you'll need a student visa. Here's the complete process.
Visa types
Student visa (Visum zu Studienzwecken)
For those with a confirmed university admission. Valid for 3 months, then converted to a residence permit after arrival.
Student applicant visa (Visum zur Studienbewerbung)
For those still applying to universities. Valid for 3–6 months. Must be converted once you receive admission.
